John Sweet President of Metal Powder Industrial FederationJohn Sweet elected president of Metal Powder Industries Federation

John Sweet, president and CEO of FMS Corporation, has been elected as the 29th president of the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF). John’s two-year term became effective at the conclusion of the federation’s annual Powder Metallurgy Management Summit and 73rd annual business meeting October 21 through 24, 2017 in Naples, Florida.

John Sweet’s history of activism and service in the field of powder metallurgy and election as president of the MPIF benefits the industry and FMS Corporation’s customers. FMS is committed to remaining at the forefront of powder metal technology and leveraging its technological leadership. The combined engineering and manufacturing expertise of the FMS staff is second to none in the market. Access to industry-leading technology benefits FMS customers directly in a variety of areas, including product design, materials properties and manufacturing efficiencies.

John Sweet has worked at FMS Corporation for 27 years, sustaining a family tradition as a third-generation entrepreneur. He most recently served as president of the Powder Metallurgy Parts Association (PMPA) and has served the association and MPIF for many years. John received MPIF’s Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy award earlier this year during the PowderMet2017 conference in Las Vegas. He has been a member of the global professional society for powder metallurgy APMI International for 29 years, and is a certified Level 1 Powder Metallurgy Technologist serving on the APMI board of directors. John has also been an elected trustee of the Center for Powder Metal Technology. He was a co-op student in the research and development laboratory of Hoeganaes Corporation for three years while earning his BS in materials engineering from Drexel University in 1989. John is also a member of Alpha Sigma Mu, a professional honor society for excellence in materials engineering. In his local community, John has served on the elder board of Redeemer Bible Church for the past 10 years.

The Metal Powder Industries Federation is a federation of six trade associations representing various aspects of powder metallurgy, metal powders, and particulate materials. MPIF’s mission is to advance the interests of the metal powder producing and consuming industries.

Throughout its long history, MPIF has been a champion of this innovative technology, providing member companies with valuable services that help advance the art and science of powder metallurgy while promoting technological benefits to prospective end users.
